Glenn Curtis The debut album was such a joy, my hope was this album would a least come close. No need for me to worry, it is stunning. Musically and with the range of instruments used there are so many layers, giving the album a real depth that I’m sure I haven’t heard all of yet. Vocally, whether they soulful, solemn or soaring they always tell a beautiful story, I haven’t had time to sit down and read the lyrics properly yet and sure they will add so much more to the music. A wonderful work of art. Favorite track: Finished.

'One Day Never' When you woke up this morning Everything you had was gone Remember your nightmares Trying to decide who you are Who you are When you woke up this morning Everything you had was gone And you walk through this morning Visit places where you came from Where you came from I can’t believe it One day never I can’t believe it And you’re walking to the moment Faces pressed against the glass To deliver this re-birth Oh, nurture him till he’s all grown up Till he’s grown up I can’t believe it One day never I can’t believe it What can I give you? I don’t know What can I tell you? That you don’t know It breaks my heart to see you cry Brother, you’ve been on my mind More than you know or less than you think But brother, you’ve been on my mind I can’t believe it One day never I can’t believe it When you woke up this morning Everything you had was gone Send your answers on a postcard When all your losses are restored I can’t believe it One day never I CAN'T BELIEVE IT

Life Times 03:54
'Life Times' Saw you yesterday, you told me “Everything felt wrong" Didn’t have the heart to tell you I was feeling strong Didn’t have the heart to say that I could turn away And I look you in the eye Your tears are lost in rain... Was it my imagination? Or did I hear you say? “We could try just one more time And make it all okay” Hungry as a searchlight I can see it in your eyes If we just re-write the past Well, don’t you know I tried? And we held in the warm summer rain The last piece of hope that remained And I don’t feel afraid anymore Darling, there’s a life time to fall Even though my heart was breaking I could feel the light Holding on to anything To help me through this night Warm the cold inside my veins And wash away the dirt Wrap a blanket round my soul Soothe the way it hurts And we held in the warm summer rain The last piece of hope that remained And I don’t feel afraid anymore Darling, there’s a life time to fall And as I walked away Carried part of her Inside half a man Ambiguous, broken Like my heart And I don’t feel afraid anymore Darling, there’s a life time to fall Darling, there’s a life time to fall

Finished 03:15
'Finished' Accuse me if you will And despise me if you will If you could only feel my fear I’d surely get through And if you could see me now I would rise above this feeling And if you could see right through me now You would see something that hurt your eyes I’ve tried to see I can’t help how it feels And I could wait and wait all day And I could wait and wait all year Sometimes I can’t hold it in Well, this time I will try I’ve tried to see I can’t help how it feels She no longer needs him
4.
'Sleeping When You Should Be Standing Watch' When you take for granted all you’ve got Sleeping when you should be standing watch Being so in love you don’t look back Watching what you held slip through the cracks A hallway of leaves I’m weak at the knees She’s waiting there… On a night when everything’s revealed Dozing with your hands still at the wheel Make the same mistakes you’ve always made Standing frozen coz you’re so afraid A hallway of leaves I’m weak at the knees She’s waiting there… With a frozen kiss So it ends like this MURAKAMI When you always laugh at the wrong time Seeing two worlds, caught between two lives When your dancing steps get out of synch Losing coz you’re always first to blink A circle of trees The roots grow so deep With my regrets… Buried in the soil No dreams left unspoiled MURAKAMI Sleeping when you should be standing watch Caught with your trousers down Sleeping when you should be standing watch Caught with your knickers down
5.
'Nest Of Dead Birds' You’d close your eyes and you’d see the flames The year the comet came We’d hear your sighs in the dead of night All doors and windows shut tight And the black wool that you fight through Gags your mouth with untruths You climbed higher Found a nest of dead birds A plastic bag in branches Cries are unheard We can never count the stars Some are already dark Crushed and charred Mmm… You’re a stranger to your own soul And it’s demons that you hold You climbed higher Found a nest of dead birds Thoughts like wolves are Fighting over your words We can never count the stars Some are already dark Crushed and charred
6.
'Cracking Skulls' I’m sitting here, I’m staring at the ceiling And your words are floating ‘round my head today And I can’t explain, I won’t explain this feeling Of what we were and what we are today Please tell me who I am and what you’re seeing Well, I can’t believe you’re laughing in my face And I sleep alone but always feel you breathing And I stretch my thoughts in longing for the days Someone’s sitting in my tree I’m falling, I’m crawling She will see what she wants to see I’m falling, I’m crawling And I’m laughing loud, I’m laughing at the people Is there really more to you than meets the eye? Or am I reading everything too deeply? Just don’t turn around and tell me I was blind! Someone’s sitting in my tree I’m falling, I’m crawling She will see what she wants to see I’m falling, I’m crawling I catch your eye And the world is turning in your head Just tell me why Is it how I feel or what you said? Well, I’m sitting here, I’m staring at the ceiling And your words are floating ‘round my head today And I can’t explain, I won’t explain this feeling Of what we were and what we are today Someone’s sitting in my tree I’m falling, I’m crawling She will see what she wants to see I’m falling, I’m crawling We’re cracking skulls We’re cracking skulls We’re cracking skulls We’re cracking skulls…

Spinster 05:08
'Spinster' Love is the thread of your curse Woven through all that hurts And it blistered beneath the stitches When your lips lost his kisses Who can escape younger days? Magnifies all you can’t un-make And the clock tower watched you growing Took your time and was stolen And you walk in two worlds on this journey But the bridges you made are burning…
9.
Biorhythm 05:16
'Biorhythm' "Can you read people's minds?" "Blueprints only..."
10.
'Letter Of Resignation' I hold this letter in my hand Penned between two halves of my heart Press my lips against your name Squeeze the tears that blind and blame But I still see us And the Edinburgh stars Have I told you today How beautiful you are? I hold this letter in my hand Carved upon this stone in my soul I shiver like the distant stars Amber, the rain is falling hard And I still see us And the dark reservoir As it reflects our forms And the infinite stars Who cares that my love could not keep her But me? And who cares that my soul’s lost without her But me? Feel the weight of my words As they rest in your palm… You hold my letter in your hands Thoughts flow through fingers like sand You press your lips against my name Beauty and sadness now ingrained

about

The Dead Sea Sound’s second album, ‘His Lucent Girlfriends’, is an honest and sometimes raw open letter to ex-partners and best friends. From a biographical recent history to a biographical distant past, the songs weave gorgeous uplifting melodies with poignant lyrics of love, loss and betrayal.

The beautiful and breezy 80’s infused indie pop of ‘Cracking Skulls’ and ‘Life Times’ sit beside the stark candour of ‘Finished’ and the darkly poetic ‘Nest Of Dead Birds’ and ‘Letter Of Resignation’.

‘His Lucent Girlfriends’ unfolds like a map of the human heart to show you where the journey starts and where the path may end. Life and love as one big nervous breakdown.

about

the DEAD SEA SOUND Manchester, UK

The Dead Sea Sound is singer / songwriter Mark Butt.

Quintessential songcraft with beautiful dark melodies, lyrics of love, heartbreak and regret, haunting vocals and northern soulfulness.

Other-worldly indie pop/rock with a slight dash of electronica. At once the sound is cinematic in scope yet the songs extraordinarily intimate.
